Omega Systems,
Inc. Achieves Growth Milestone, Inc. 500 Listing
Phoenix, AZ
October 20, 2005 - Omega Systems, Inc. is proud to
announce its entry into Inc. Magazines’ list of 500 of
America’s Fastest Growing privately held companies for
2005. The company was founded in 1998 as a small defense
contractor specializing in process analysis and engineering
for frontline combat units. What the military needed at the
time was a better method for defining interoperability
between command and control systems” according to Tom
Gilmore, Omega Systems’ CEO. Gilmore went on to say, “At
that time, we were seeing a significant amount of what we
call stove-piped development, resulting in systems being
deployed that couldn’t talk to each other.” Their solution
was cross-functional analysis and engineering, a term that
has become synonymous with operational architecture in the
Marine Corps.
In 2002, Omega
Systems, Inc. put a plan together to leverage its experience
in architectures and interoperability to become a government
small-tier solutions provider. The company decided that
with its keen insight into the military enterprise, Omega
Systems was well positioned to become a niche provider of
deployable and ruggedized communications and computing
solutions.
Since the expansion
into solution development, the company’s growth rate has
exceeded 450% annually for the last three years. “Achieving
the growth is one thing, managing and maintaining it are
another”, Gilmore said. When asked what he attributed the
company’s success to he said, “There are two primary
reasons: we plan continuously, and we are very selective
about hiring. Planning ensures we have looked at
everything, what can go right, and what can go wrong. With
people, we put a significant premium on finding the right
people.”
